The Session is the ruling body of the congregation.  Members (elders) seek to discern God's will for the church.  The Session meets on the 2nd Monday of each month

The Session
The Session is made up of 12 active Elders, divided into 3 classes, each serving a 3 year term.  Every year 1/3 of the session is elected by the congregation
 

Minutes of May 14, 2007


The May Stated Meeting of the Session of Georgetown Presbyterian Church took place on May 14, 2007 in the church library.


The meeting was called to order at 7:00PM by the pastor and opened with prayer, a reading from Psalms and discussion.


1. ATTENDANCE

2. RECEPTION OF NEW MEMBERS / DISMISSAL OF MEMBERS

  1. The clerk shared a request from Emily Broch to transfer her membership to St. Johns Methodist Church.

  2. The death of member and elder Louise O'Neil was noted.

  3. The clerk’s committee presented the session with a list of 43 names and a request to move them to the inactive roll according to our constitution. A motion to move the following active members to the inactive list was made by Helen McCool, seconded by Lee Turek, and passed.

3. MEMBERSHIP CONCERNS


Pastor Mike Williams led the session in intercessory prayer remembering many needs and concerns of members, friends and others.


4.. CLERKS REPORT

            The agenda was approved by common consent.

Lee Turek made a motion to approve the minutes from April 9, 2007, Steve Kasperski seconded the motion and it passed.

The session approved by common consent to have Clerk Michele Fletcher serve as Presbytery Commissioner.


5. FINANCE REPORT

            Lee Turek shared the finance report for April

The committee proposed the hiring of Linda Williamsas Summer Educational Assistant and Office Manager for the summer months. The motion passed.


  1. PASTOR’S REPORT

The Pastor has requested the approval of Donna Bowers to preach on May 20, 2007. The motion was approved by common consent.


7. COMMITTEE REPORTS


Worship:    The committee proposed the addition of an 8:30 worship service in Tunnell Hall during  
                  the summer months. Motion passed.

            Buildings & Grounds: The annual church work day is scheduled for Saturday May 19. The church bell display
                                               should be done this month.

            Stewardship : No Report


  1. OLD BUSINESS: None


  1. NEW BUSINESS: Lee Turek made a motion to accept a screen and projector for Tunnell Hall donated by the Ladies' Auxiliary, seconded by Norm Miller and passed.


10. ADJOURNMENT

      The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 with prayer.


      The next stated meeting is scheduled for June 11, 2007 at 7:00PM.
